Inspiration Journal – The “New You Eve” Assignment

I believe that getting the new year off to a great start begins on new year’s eve. I use the day to prepare – dream contemplate. I encourage you to do the same. Let’s get excited – pumped – motivated about the possibilities that lie ahead!

I have learned that in order to change the size of my body there are three other things that must change first. The way I eat, the amount I move, and the way I think.  The last listed is the most important – “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” (from Proverbs 23:7). Until we gain control of our thoughts, understand ourselves, and begin to add new ways of thinking the other two will not change.

Sandee's Inspiration Journal

Today’s assignment is a fun one. So much fun that I couldn’t wait and have already begun. Today is Inspiration Journal day! I want you to have a very special little book that is just for this journey. This will be a place to plan, dream and contemplate. This is where you will spend time getting to know you and building a better, stronger, more powerful self – one thought at a time!

Treat yourself! Go out and buy a lovely bound journal. Or maybe you are like me and the fun is in the creativity. I purchased a very inexpensive composition book at Walmart and created a collage cover using inspirational quotes and pictures. This way the book is in itself an encouragement and is very uniquely perfect for me. Whatever you choose make sure it is something that you will enjoy using. Don’t be intimidated by blank pages. There is no right or wrong way to journal. Simply begin.

Once you have your journal, begin immediately to use it. This is your day to plan and dream. Begin to sketch a word map of the journey ahead. Write in very specific terms what your goals are and how you plan to achieve them. Also use this space to remind yourself why you want what you want and what you are willing to do to get the desired result. Be thorough but also be realistic.
Following is an abbreviated example from my own journal. I don’t want to give away all my secrets at once (wink). “My goal for 2012 is to lose an additional 40 lbs while helping my entire family become healthier, stronger, and more fit. I will achieve this through planning  reduced calorie, high nutrition, easy prep and delicious meals and snacks. (I will teach you how to do the same.) In addition I will continue to exercise regularly adding even more fun and diverse workouts to the mix, some that we can all enjoy together. I will journal to stay motivated and focused. I plan to track my eating habits and exercise closely so that I can celebrate accomplishment and work on problem areas. I will have an official weigh in once a week. I desire to reach my goal so that my family and I can be our healthiest, happiest selves as I believe God created us to be. I want us to be full of vitality and strength that we may face each day ready to meet what lies before us. “
Now it’s your turn. Let the planning and dreaming begin!
