Healthy Eater’s Easter Basket

    

     Even before my weight loss journey, I’ve focused on creating Easter baskets that weren’t just full of junk food and candy. We always wanted our kids to enjoy good health and large doses of sugar aren’t a great choice. As I go to put together Easter baskets this year I will continue to use some of the tricks I’ve used for years and add a few new ideas. I thought I would share some with you.

     Nuts, fruit, granola bars, wheat snack crackers, and 100 calorie packs of snacks are great easter basket fillers. Karr’s packs of snack mix are small enough to easily fit into a plastic egg, for instance.

     Add toiletries like lip balm, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, bath fizzes or salts, new toothbrushes, manicure sets, combs, hair bows, and even a bath sponge or wash cloth.

     Aromatherapy and fragrance items are among my favorite fillers. Try candles, incense, essential oils, room sprays, infusers, potpouri, or scented drawers liners.

     Stationary items are fun. A diary or journal, envelopes, notecards, pens and pencils, markers, even decorative push pins, colorful paperclips, and notepads.

     For grown up baskets tea and coffe make great fillers. Consider a mug, tea ball, honey sticks, or other fun drink related items.

     For kids small toys like bouncy balls, glow sticks, crayons, chalk, jump roap, toy cars, a doll, balloons, punch balls, toy rings, tops, and other “party favor” type items are great.

     Books are nice. Cookbooks, storybooks, activity books, novels, choose whatever would be of intrest to your recipient.

     For gals teen and above, beauty items like nail polish, lipstick, eyeshadow, or perfume. Even scarves, sunglasses, colorful socks, or other accessories.

     For guys teen and above try watches, small flashlights, rugged body wash, a key chain, and pocket knives.  

     Money, gift cards, coupons for services, and IOU’s of time are also great.

     Does your recepient have a hobby? For crafters scrapbooking supplies, yarn, beads, and the like. For the golfter tees and balls. For the runner headbands, a good pedometer, high quality socks. You get the idea.

     Get creative! There are lots of fun non food or healthy food options.
